Spring and Summer Style
Do the seasons outside shape the way you decorate inside? Beyond swapping seasonal accessories like spring flowers or autumn branches, many of us let the prevailing season — or our favorite season — influence long-term choices such as furniture, color palettes, and overall style.
Personally, I find my preferences shift slightly with the seasons. I enjoy embracing each one, so I aim for choices that transition smoothly year-round. That said, some homes have an obvious “base seasonal style” that makes the most sense for their location, architecture, or lifestyle.

What is your home’s seasonal style? Does your house read like summer, spring, winter, or fall? All seasons offer beautiful and distinct moods. Fall and winter tend to feel cozy and restorative, ideal for layered textures and warm hues. Spring and summer bring fresh, light palettes and an energizing sense of renewal when sunlight and the garden call us outside.

Our seasonal leanings can come from many influences: personal color preferences, the climate where we live, the architectural style of our home, the furnishings we already own, or simply how different seasons affect our moods. Some of us are naturally more “outdoor people” or “indoor people,” beach lovers or winter-sports fans — and that lifestyle often finds expression in our decor.

If you live in a region with mild, mixed seasons, you may prefer a flexible approach that comfortably flows from spring to summer to fall and winter. Neutral foundations, adaptable accents, and layered textures let you tweak the mood for each season without a full overhaul.

There’s no single “correct” seasonal style for a home. The most important thing is that your space reflects what you love and makes you feel comfortable throughout the year. Whether your aesthetic leans toward cozy autumnal layers, crisp summer breezes, delicate spring blooms, or serene winter whites, a home that suits you is always the best choice.
So, what season is most reflected in your home decor? Do you shift your preferences with the seasons?
Every spring, these airy, summery spaces are the ones I find myself admiring most.
