Daily Routines, Puttering Tips, and a Live Virtual Class

We may be taking it easier this summer, but the habits we practice at home still matter for our wellbeing. Simple daily care for the home can create a steady, calming rhythm when the world outside feels unpredictable.

A short, consistent housekeeping routine can lift your mood and provide a sense of order. “Chores” often sound burdensome, so I prefer to think of them as acts of care. Mindset matters: if home tasks feel like obligations, we delay them until they become overwhelming. When we approach them as small, intentional practices, they feel manageable and even satisfying.

On most days, if I can manage a shiny sink, a freshly made bed, one load of laundry folded and put away, and a quick tidy of a corner, I end the day feeling accomplished and peaceful in my space.

I also enjoy puttering—those small moments spent rearranging a plant, straightening a stack of books, or tending a windowsill. These gentle tasks are restorative. That’s why the four simple daily routines I follow have such a positive effect: they inspire me to create more beauty and order, not out of obligation, but out of desire.

Over the coming weeks, alongside home decorating ideas and inspiration, I’ll be sharing more about puttering and how adopting a few daily rituals can bring unexpected joy.

You can find me on my Instagram stories throughout the day, where I share gentle reminders of these routines and simple ways to bring more beauty into caring for your home.

Tonight (July 20) I’m hosting another virtual Plant Magic class with friends from my Dwell Well Collective group at 5:30 PM PST / 8:30 PM EST.

This class focuses on the benefits of creating a toxin-free home and how that supports better health for you, your family, and your pets. I’ll share parts of my own journey with Hashimoto’s and autoimmune challenges. My daughters will offer their perspectives, we’ll discuss essential oils for sleep, immune support, cleaning, digestion, focus, and more, and a veterinarian friend will join to address oils and pet safety.

If you missed last week’s session, want to attend again, or would like to invite a friend, email [email protected] for the Zoom link to join the Plant Magic class. You’re welcome to listen without appearing on camera.

We’d love to have you join us.
