I love labels. There’s something satisfying about a row of notebooks with labeled spines, bins with tags neatly slipped into metal holders, baskets with dangling labels, or stenciled names above towel hooks.
I often imagine every part of my home clearly organized and labeled. I even bought a label maker so I could indulge that urge to identify and categorize everything.
Why show a toilet plunger? Moving into a brand-new house introduced us to one of the quirks of modern plumbing: low-flow toilets. Within days of moving in we discovered the need for plungers, and to keep them discreet we chose metal canisters to store them in.
For a guest faced with an awkward situation, a discreet canister can prevent embarrassment. To make sure guests understand what’s inside and to avoid any confusion, I labeled the canister “plunger.” It’s a small, practical touch that speaks to thoughtful hospitality.
Don’t forget the Beautiful Living Linky on Friday! I’m excited for the weekly motivation to help stay on track with goals. I also haven’t forgotten the home tour — the first photos are uploaded and I’ll be sharing them soon.
