I’ve been doing a bit more fall nesting around the house this week. I absolutely love this time of year.
Yesterday felt like a perfect fall day — sunny and crisp. I spent some time tidying and swapping out a few summer items for autumn decor. I didn’t tackle everything on my to‑do list, but I did make the home feel cozier and more seasonal.
I’m craving warmer, softer textures — blankets, knit throws, and plush pillows. Jack agrees: warm and soft are the best. He makes me laugh when he naps, sprawled in funny positions; his legs and ears flail about as he sleeps. He had his feet up on the wall just before I snapped this photo. He’s growing fast — almost 30 pounds at four months.
Where was I? Right — I’m ready to say goodbye to summer, while still keeping the sunny days. Cool air, changing leaves, and bright skies are my ideal mix. Add a cozy velvet sofa by a fireplace and that’s fall perfection.
We’re only a few days away from “31 Days: Inspired for the Holidays.” I’m really excited about this series and already have ideas and inspiration planned for the whole month.
Hint: I’ll be hosting a giveaway this weekend for some super cozy plush pumpkins. They look so squishable — who wouldn’t want one?
It’s shaping up to be a great month.
Tell me — am I the only one who dreams about velvet couches this time of year? When September rolls around I start craving rich, plush seating. My white slipcovers suddenly feel less appealing for fall.
I’m picturing a rusty cinnamon-colored velvet sofa. That would be deliciously cozy.
