II picked up some lovely organic pears at a local market this week. I enjoy wandering through a good produce aisle — grocery shopping isn’t my favorite thing, but browsing fruit and vegetables always feels like a small treat. They’re healthy, and they’re beautiful too.
Before we dug in, I decided to use a few of those pears to create a simple fall centerpiece.
I often arrange centerpieces in wreaths, but this time I laid everything out on a rustic wood cutting board for a relaxed, natural look. I like to use what I already have and keep things uncomplicated.

The arrangement is unfussy and low, so it doesn’t block conversation across the table. Small clusters of pears paired with a few sprigs of foliage or a handful of nuts feel seasonal without being fussy.

One nice thing about edible centerpieces is that when hunger strikes, you can simply reach over, pick up a pear and take a bite. It’s practical and charming at the same time.
Go ahead and say it. It’s brilliant.

Have you been following the 31 Days of Falling for Fall series? Today is Day 21 in the annual series, where each day features simple ideas and inspiration for welcoming autumn into your home.
If you enjoy seasonal decorating, try a few of these simple tips to recreate this centerpiece:
- Choose a shallow base like a wooden board, tray, or charger so the display stays low and conversation-friendly.
- Group fruit in odd numbers for a natural look—three to five pears sprinkled with smaller accent pieces works well.
- Add texture with greenery, small branches, pinecones, or nuts to introduce contrast and depth.
- Keep the palette neutral and organic: warm wood, soft greens, and the fresh tones of ripe fruit.
- Rotate items as they’re eaten or refreshed to keep the centerpiece looking lively throughout the season.
This approach is budget-friendly, adaptable to different table sizes, and easy to refresh with what’s available at your local market or in your yard. It’s an effortless way to bring the colors and textures of fall indoors.
