Hiii! Kylee here. This week I’ve been focusing on making my entryway feel cozy. I have some art arriving soon and I’m considering painting the walls and doors, so I’ll share more of this space as it comes together. For now, I wanted to show you my new cabinet. I originally planned to use a bench on this wall, but the wall turned out to be much longer than I expected and the bench looked undersized. That sent me on a search for something more substantial with storage.
While searching for the right entry piece, I kept finding several black cabinets I loved (I’ll share a round-up of favorites soon). The problem was the length I needed — pieces that long typically started at a couple thousand dollars, which I wasn’t thrilled about paying.

Then I found a cabinet that matched the look I wanted but it wasn’t long enough on its own. That’s when I had an idea.

I decided to buy two of the same cabinets and place them side by side. Buying two of these cabinets cost under $500 — about a quarter of what comparable long pieces cost. The bonus is flexibility: if I change my mind later I have two separate pieces to use elsewhere. They come in white, natural, and brown finishes, so they fit a range of styles. There’s also a three-door version that works well for a TV console or a tighter space.
There was another piece I had been leaning toward that looks very similar, but for the extra cost I didn’t think the decorative arches justified the price. The takeaway: sometimes a creative solution gives you the look you want without overspending.
Update: the exact cabinet I bought has sold out since I first wrote this, but you can request a restock notification on the listing. In the meantime, there are other similar options worth considering — glass-front cabinets in multiple colors (easy to personalize by changing knobs), styles with open lower shelving for display, natural wood versions with scalloped doors, woven-panel cabinets, blue cabinets with an open shelf, and longer carved wood pieces. These alternatives offer comparable looks at various price points and finishes, so you can find something that fits your space and budget.
