Slowly but surely, I’ve been making steady progress on my office. Recently I added a flea market rattan bookshelf that I absolutely love. I also brought in the Alex drawer system from IKEA, which I finally organized and have been using constantly.
The Alex drawers are perfect for small crafts, paper, art prints, and office supplies. My only problem was not knowing what was in each drawer—opening one after another until I found what I needed. This week I solved that by hand-labeling each drawer with gold-and-white Martha Stewart stickers. Easy and effective.
I’d kept putting off labeling because I thought I needed fancy custom labels, but I realized the procrastination was slowing my progress. Using stickers I already had worked just fine—and now that task is finally done.
I still enjoy having a Nespresso station in the office. I’ve been relying on coffee more than usual while preparing for my book launch and several other projects I’ll be sharing soon. Thank you for the kind comments on my earlier post about the book and the little print shown above. That little deer head on the wall above my lamp? My husband finds it ridiculous, but I think quirky animal decor is charming. It adds a playful touch and always makes me smile. No shame—sometimes a small bit of whimsy is exactly what a room needs.
I don’t think I mentioned this lamp yet. I actually bought a pair for the bedroom but ordered the wrong color. Before returning them I tried one in the office and it stayed. They’re a substantial size, and I love the subtle swirl or marble pattern. We picked them up on a good sale.
