At last — a progress update on our new office with the completed flooring! Adding a wall and a door has made the space noticeably quieter, and the new Mohawk Concertina laminate in Smokey Chestnut has completely transformed the look. The room feels warmer, more inviting, and far more finished.

If you missed the earlier photos and the story behind this makeover, you can find the before post on our original blog.
Although the furniture remains the same and we’re still planning how to arrange everything, the change is dramatic. The new flooring truly defines the lower level and sets the tone for the entire area. Working in this office now feels calmer and more inspiring — we’re more organized, creative, and simply enjoy being here more than before.

I love the matte finish and the warm, rustic tones of this floor — it looks even better in person.

The flooring isn’t just attractive — it’s durable and suits our family’s active lifestyle. We needed a surface that stands up to everyday wear and tear and still looks good, because this room could serve different purposes in the future. Whether it becomes a mudroom or a bedroom later on, the flooring’s resilience and versatile appearance make it a practical long-term choice. Its color and texture help hide daily dirt and give the room a cozy, lived-in feel.

For more details on how we chose this floor and the installation process, see our earlier posts documenting the selection and reveal in the adjoining family room.

We’re excited to share more ideas for arranging this office and the connecting rooms as the project continues. Thanks for following along!
I wrote this post while participating in the Mohawk Flooring Blogger Campaign and received flooring to facilitate my review. The design project and opinions are my own.
