If strolling through charming seaside towns and touring beautiful homes sounds appealing, you’ll enjoy today’s “Out to See” tour. Whether you love armchair travel, are planning a vacation, or considering a move to the Pacific Northwest, we’re excited to share our recent visit to one of the region’s most beloved coastal towns.
We also toured a lovely new neighborhood of homes in Poulsbo called Blue Heron by Tri Pointe Homes. Poulsbo is a historic community on the shores of Liberty Bay, located on the Kitsap Peninsula in Washington. Framed by water and mountain views, it’s a peaceful escape with easy access to nearby cities.

Poulsbo is a Quaint Seaside Destination
With its picturesque marina, Scandinavia-inspired storefronts, antique shops, cozy coffee houses and restaurants, Poulsbo makes a delightful weekend getaway. It’s also a place many people fall in love with and never want to leave. A short ferry ride from Seattle, Poulsbo offers a quieter pace while still keeping city connections within reach. You get the best of both worlds: calming small-town life and convenient access to urban amenities.
Having lived on the peninsula for six years, I can speak from experience—Poulsbo is the sort of place where you can happily settle in and call home.
Below I’ll share favorite highlights of Poulsbo and show interior and neighborhood photos from the Blue Heron community by Tri Pointe Homes.

Whenever we share photos of life in Washington’s coastal towns, people ask about the area’s charm—and for good reason. Poulsbo is truly beautiful. Although we no longer live on the peninsula (we’re now on a nearby island), we keep returning because it’s an easy day trip and full of memories. Living in this region feels like being on vacation most days, thanks to the abundance of coastal towns to explore.
Poulsbo’s Nordic vibe—often called “Little Norway”—includes local breweries, coffee shops, boutiques and antique stores. It’s also a boater’s paradise, so if you love water activities like kayaking, sailing, or just spending time near the shore, Poulsbo is ideal.

Poulsbo is a Wonderful Community to Live In
Poulsbo is not just a great place to visit—it’s a welcoming community to settle into. Surrounded by stunning natural scenery, it offers a peaceful atmosphere while providing convenient access to local amenities and recreation.
Blue Heron by Tri Pointe Homes is a new neighborhood close to town. On our drive through the area, the development stood out for its open feel and surrounding farmland with classic white fences. Mature neighborhoods nearby add to the sense of calm and space.
Blue Heron will appeal to homebuyers seeking a quieter lifestyle but who still value being near community resources. The neighborhood sits across from a public school, and shopping—grocery stores, markets, restaurants and a nearby Costco—are all within a short drive, making daily life convenient.
Homes in Blue Heron are currently for sale. The community offers thoughtful amenities, design personalization options, and flexible floor plans to suit a range of needs and tastes.

You Can Put Down Roots in Poulsbo and Make a New House Your Home
Tri Pointe Homes Amenities and Personalizing Your Home
Blue Heron homes range from three to six bedrooms, so buyers have flexibility for home offices, study areas, workout rooms or guest space. The award-winning Design Studio lets homeowners personalize finishes and layouts to match their style and needs, making each home feel unique.
Moving into a freshly built, customized home offers a fresh start. Personal touches continue as you furnish and decorate, helping a new house quickly feel like home.

Homes we toured showcased large windows that fill rooms with natural light, private backyards for relaxing or barbecues, and community features like a park, playground, sidewalks and charming streetlights. The neighborhood and surrounding parks create daily opportunities to get outside and meet neighbors.
If you’re dreaming of a new home in a friendly community or simply curious about life in Poulsbo and the Northwest, Blue Heron is worth a look.

You Can Travel between Poulsbo and Seattle (and to area islands!) on the Ferry
Ferries are a beloved part of life in this region. Taking a ferry to Seattle or neighboring islands feels scenic and relaxing. Poulsbo’s proximity to ferry routes makes travel enjoyable and convenient for commuting, weekend trips or island hopping.
Poulsbo suits hybrid workers who can work from home and commute occasionally. Even if you live in Seattle but want a quieter escape, a ferry trip to Poulsbo provides an easy retreat. Driving routes also connect the peninsula to Tacoma, Seattle and points south without requiring a ferry, so you have multiple travel options.

Visiting Poulsbo and Other Local Day Trips
Whether you’re house hunting or just looking for a delightful destination, Poulsbo delivers. Our family spent many afternoons exploring its shops, stopping for coffee or enjoying community events like Fourth of July fireworks by the water. The town retains a genuine small-town community spirit.
Poulsbo also makes a perfect base for day trips. Nearby destinations include Port Townsend, Port Gamble, and Bainbridge Island, all easy to reach by car or ferry. From Port Townsend you can catch connections to other ferries, including routes to Canada. Whidbey Island is another lovely option for quick getaways.
The Kitsap Peninsula offers abundant parks, trails and coastal scenery—ideal for anyone who loves outdoor exploration and coastal living.
We hope you’ll have a chance to visit Poulsbo and see the new homes in person.
