Hi! Courtney here. The last time I wrote I shared a tour of my tiny bedroom in my sister’s townhouse and mentioned my move. Today I’m excited to give you a tour of my very first apartment in Seattle.
It’s been almost a month since I moved in — time has flown. The photos in this post were taken before I moved in, so many spaces look empty. I’ll focus on the layout and the details I love, though you may have seen sneak peeks on my Instagram if you follow along.
Let’s start the tour.
*Update* I later shared a follow-up tour after living here for a year and a half.

First, a photo of me on move-in day — my mom snapped this and it felt a little like a first-day-of-school picture. It reminded me of the snapshot she took on my first day of kindergarten.

Okay, enough reminiscing. On with the tour!

This is the entryway. I didn’t expect a defined entry, so I’m thrilled to have a welcoming spot to drop keys and shoes when I walk in.

Past the entry you can see the bathroom door on the left and the double louvered doors housing the washer and dryer on the right. The opening on the left leads to the bedroom. This is an open one-bedroom layout: the bedroom is a separate space but not fully enclosed. Some similar layouts have sliding frosted glass doors, but I appreciate the openness while still having a distinct sleeping area.

The bedroom features a cutout opening that brings natural light in from the living and kitchen area.

This wall faces my bed and straight ahead is the closet. One of the highlights of this apartment has been the generous storage. In my previous tiny bedroom I had to be creative with small-space solutions, so having more room now feels like a luxury. It’s made organizing much easier.

I expected a stacked washer and dryer in the bathroom closet, so finding side-by-side machines tucked into their own closet was a pleasant surprise. Little things like that make everyday life easier.

The bathroom includes a generous vanity with plenty of counter and cabinet space, plus a linen closet and a shower/tub. I appreciate that much of the storage is concealed; while open shelving can be pretty, being able to tuck things out of sight keeps the space calm and tidy.

Now for my favorite area: the kitchen and living room.

This combined living, dining, and kitchen area has grayish wood laminate floors that run throughout the apartment. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the space with natural light. The dark gray blinds were already installed; I plan to add curtain panels to soften the window wall.

My very own kitchen — it felt like home a few days after moving in, even with boxes around and dishes still to unpack. Progress continues, and the space already feels cozy.

I’m planning to use the area by the windows for plants — lots of them. Whether I can keep them all alive remains to be seen, but the light makes it an ideal spot.

Here’s the view from the kitchen looking back toward the bedroom and entry hall. The open layout keeps the apartment feeling airy while still offering defined areas for living and sleeping.

So, that’s the tour.
I’m grateful for this new chapter. As someone who loves design and home, having this space feels like a dream. I’ve been enjoying decorating and personalizing the apartment over the last month and look forward to sharing updates and progress.

In the meantime, feel free to follow along on Instagram where I often share home photos and stories.
Thanks for stopping by my first place, friends!
