Hello friends — how are you doing? We’re getting by here and trying to make the most of these unusual days. It will take time to find a new rhythm. As someone who has worked from home for years, being at home full-time is familiar, but these circumstances feel different. Still, we can create small routines and comforts that help.
Right now, I find it helpful to focus on ordinary, grounding activities. Making lists of things we’ve always wanted to do, settling into new daily rhythms, and tending the home so it feels healthier and more comforting for the whole family—all of that matters. These simple efforts lift spirits and make days feel more manageable.
Here are a few things we’ve been doing at home:
- Planning my garden — there’s something very therapeutic about being among plants and the promise of growing things.
- Organizing areas of the house we’d been meaning to tackle. With more of us at home, we’re discovering what works and what needs adjusting.
- Doing puzzles with my husband for date nights. It’s a quiet, cozy way to connect and relax together.
- Taking family walks with the dogs through nearby, uncrowded neighborhoods. Fresh air and movement help a lot.
- Sipping tea and slowly becoming a tea person. We’ve enjoyed chamomile blends and a vanilla matcha that’s delicious with oat milk.
- Curling up by the fire wrapped in a soft throw — simple comforts matter more than ever.
- Flipping through decor books and dreaming up small projects for the house. Coffee table books and magazines are a great source of inspiration.
- Reading books I’ve been meaning to dive into. Slowing down has created more time for reading.
- Cooking comforting, creative meals. We set up a baked potato bar one evening and it was a fun family dinner. Meal planning has become more useful now that dining out isn’t an option.
- Ordering groceries and household supplies online for convenience and safety. Availability varies, but online shopping has been indispensable.
- Running diffusers around the house with favorite essential-oil blends to help the home feel calm and fresh.
- Listening to uplifting music and curated playlists while I go about the day.

Here is the uplifting music I’ve been listening to around the house:
A song that’s been especially meaningful for me lately is “Rest In You” by All Sons and Daughters. Its calm, reflective tone has been a go-to.
I also listen to a playlist of Christian worship songs I call “Uplift” and a separate “Happy Homebody” playlist filled with cheerful, cozy tracks for home life.
