Warm & Lovely Coastal Dream House — Seaside Home Tour

Beautiful Kitchen - JS Interiors Kitchen Trent Bell photography

I was sitting by the fire last evening, pretending I had nothing to do. You know the feeling — you’re incredibly busy but can’t take a day off, so you act like you have nothing on your plate. I really needed to finish some work, yet somehow I found myself scrolling through Pinterest. Sometimes that counts as research; last night it was pure avoidance. Or at least I thought so.

On Pinterest I came across a waterfront home that stopped me in my tracks. It was featured on House of Turquoise and designed by Justene Spaulding of JS Interiors, with photography by Trent Bell. There are countless homes on Pinterest, but every so often one feels different — something special that deserves another look. This house was one of those finds.

JS Interiors Living Room

The design is tasteful and balanced, blending rustic, traditional, coastal, and cottage influences. The palette in the kitchen and living spaces — even on the ceiling — caught my eye. Watercolor shades of teal and green mix with dark and light woods, crisp white trim, and warm gold fixtures to create a look that feels fresh, pretty, and cozy all at once. It’s a combination I return to again and again.

I adore that rug and the charming barley-twist legs on the bench — small details that make a big impact.

The cabinetry, the lighting, the millwork, and the tub all feel thoughtfully chosen. Everything reads as comfortable and lived-in while retaining an intentional, refined aesthetic.

Of course, I’m a fan of the planked walls — they add texture and a cozy, cottage-like character. I’ve always imagined having planked walls throughout my home someday.

The floors show so much texture and warmth; they anchor the spaces beautifully.

Working in a field you love has its hazards: it’s hard to stop noticing and collecting inspiration. Even when I deliberately try to avoid work, I end up dreaming about houses. If you enjoy following along on my design discoveries, you can find my Pinterest boards for more of these housey daydreams.

Happy Monday, fellow home lovers. Do you find yourself daydreaming on Pinterest when you should be working, too?
