Whether you completely love your home or it’s a work in progress, practicing gratitude for what you have—and what you can do—can make a big difference.
What are five things you love about your home?
If you’re not sure, keep reading for ideas to help you answer this question.
NOTE: we’re sharing responses this week in our new free community group on Facebook.
If you’re not part of The Inspired Room Community yet, you can join the group and share your answers or even a photo of your home.
If you don’t use Facebook, that’s fine—share in the comments of this post below. I’d love to hear about your home.
I’ll go first:
5 things I love about my home:
- The view of the Puget Sound and the mountains.
- My Dutch doors.
- My kitchen.
- The warm, happy feeling the house gives us—it felt right even before we made it our own.
- Our outdoor areas.
Those are a few of the things I appreciate. I’m grateful that this house had qualities I liked before we moved in, and that I’ve been able to make improvements over the last few years. I love my home more now than I did at first, though there are still aspects I’d change.
Being a dreamer and a homeowner can be tricky—the world is full of homes I’d love to live in. Focusing on gratitude for what I have and what I can do helps me stay content.

Maybe right now you don’t feel any attachment to your home. Perhaps you can’t make changes at the moment, or you have only a few things you appreciate. That’s okay.
Ask yourself:
What are five things I COULD DO this year to fall more in love with my home?
Don’t let limited funds stop you from finding joy in where you live. You may have to wait for big changes, but there are usually small, realistic steps you can take this year. Identify five things that are within reach—no matter how modest. Having practical ideas helps prevent a slide into discontent and sparks creative solutions.
I’m asking myself the same question and making a plan for small projects and improvements. Even when you already love your home, fresh goals keep life interesting and productive. I’ll be sharing ideas, plans, and progress here—stay tuned!
