YCreating a home is a gradual process. We’ve lived in our Seattle house for a little over four years, and while design shows often suggest a space can be finished in an hour, most of us know it’s about slow evolution—gathering pieces over time, using what we already own, tweaking layouts until they feel right. Sometimes inspiration strikes and everything changes again, and that’s part of the fun.
I enjoy making our home cozy and functional, and this year I’m focusing on simplifying. That means editing what we own, streamlining furniture, and organizing to keep only what serves us well.
This year I want to work on:
- STREAMLINING our furniture
- SIMPLIFYING our belongings
- ORGANIZING what we keep
One of the first steps is evaluating how each room feels and functions. In smaller homes, every piece matters, so I’m identifying what works, what can be rearranged or pared down, and what could be replaced by something more attractive, functional, or comfortable.
I already have a few projects underway that I can’t wait to share. Expect updates with practical, budget-friendly makeovers and ideas to make small spaces feel larger and more livable.
Below are some favorite furniture finds from the World Market sale this week, plus a few pieces my daughters and I use and love in our own homes.
