Hi! Courtney here. In my last post I shared a tour of my tiny bedroom in my sister’s townhouse and mentioned my move. Today I’m excited to show you my very first apartment in Seattle.

It’s been nearly a month since I moved in and time is flying. The photos in this tour were taken before I actually moved in, so many rooms look empty. I’ll mostly show you the layout of the space, but if you’ve been following my Instagram you may have already seen some sneak peeks.

Let’s start the tour.

First, a photo from move-in day that my mom took — it feels a bit like a first-day-of-school snapshot. It reminded me of the picture she took on my first day of kindergarten.

Okay, enough reminiscing — on with the tour!

This is the entryway. I didn’t expect a defined entry area, so I’m happy to have a welcoming spot when I walk in.

Past the entry you can see the bathroom door on the left and the double louvered doors on the right that hide the washer and dryer. The opening on the left leads to the bedroom. This unit is an open one-bedroom: the bedroom is its own space but not fully enclosed. Some similar layouts have sliding frosted glass doors, but I’ve enjoyed keeping mine open while still distinct.

The bedroom has a cutout in one wall that lets lots of natural light flow in from the living/kitchen area.

This wall faces the bed and straight ahead is a roomy closet. The storage throughout the apartment is impressive. In my previous smaller space I had to get creative with storage, so it’s been nice to spread things out here and feel more organized.

I had pictured the washer and dryer stacked in a bathroom closet, so finding a side-by-side pair tucked into their own closet felt like a small luxury. Yes, I’m excited about laundry appliances — adulting perks.

The bathroom includes a vanity with plenty of counter and storage space, plus a linen closet and a shower/bath. Most of the apartment’s storage is concealed behind doors, which helps keep things tidy even though I appreciate open shelving at times.

Now for my favorite areas: the kitchen and living room.

The living, dining, and kitchen share an open space with grayish laminate floors that run throughout the apartment. Floor-to-ceiling windows fill the room with light. There were dark gray blinds when I moved in, which I lower at night. I’m planning to add curtain panels on each side for a softer look.

My own kitchen — a space that made the apartment feel like home very quickly, even while boxes were still unpacked.

Here’s a kitchen photo a few days after moving in. Even with boxes around, this place started to feel settled almost immediately.

The area by the windows will likely become a plant corner — lots of light makes it ideal. Whether I can keep them all alive is another question.

So, that’s the tour!

I’m grateful for this new season of life. As someone who loves design and home, having this apartment feels like a dream. I’ve been enjoying decorating and making this space feel like mine, and I look forward to sharing updates on The Inspired Room.
