Ta da! Introducing my new laundry room!
For the first time ever, I finally have a proper laundry room — and I could not be more excited. It’s not large or extravagant, but it’s a real room with a window, a small closet, and it’s conveniently located on the second floor near all the bedrooms instead of tucked away in the basement.
This little space feels surprisingly grown-up. I wanted to share a quick sneak peek and a few inspiration photos to give you ideas for creating an efficient, attractive laundry area of your own. I’ll be sharing more detailed photos and the full reveal soon — but for now, here are a few images and thoughts to spark your creativity.
A small laundry room can be both functional and pretty. Consider these simple design ideas:
- Maximize vertical storage with shelving or cabinets above the washer and dryer to keep detergents and cleaning supplies organized.
- Include a small closet or built-in cabinet for extra linens, an ironing board, or laundry baskets to reduce clutter.
- Make the most of natural light by placing the workspace near a window; it brightens the room and makes chores more pleasant.
- Choose durable, easy-to-clean surfaces for countertops and flooring so the room stays fresh and functional.
- Add a few decorative touches—like a pendant light, framed art, or a plant—to make the space welcoming without sacrificing practicality.
Even modest spaces benefit from thoughtful layout and simple styling. Stackable units or front-loading machines with a countertop above create folding space, while baskets and labeled bins keep sorting easy. Bright paint or a subtle wallpaper accent can transform an ordinary utility room into a charming corner of the home.
