Black hardware cabinets
Workbook by Westbrook
One of the key choices when planning a kitchen is selecting cabinet hardware. While warm brass and gold finishes have been trending, black hardware remains a timeless choice. Matte black finishes are especially popular and versatile. Metal hardware rarely goes truly out of style—each finish can be right depending on your kitchen’s aesthetic and the overall character of your home.
Personally, I love the contrast of white cabinets with black hardware. That combination feels unpretentious, classic and cozy. I used black iron knobs and pulls in my English Tudor home and appreciated the look so much I considered bringing them back in my new kitchen. Black hardware has a grounded, approachable quality that suits many design styles.
Below are several kitchens that showcase black hardware in different settings. These images highlight how black pulls and knobs work with white cabinetry, natural wood tones, shiplap, slate floors, and mixed metal accents. Toward the end of the article is a short list of hardware sources to help you find similar options.
Enjoy!
