Kitchen Cabinet Colors
Are you ready for a kitchen update? I finally am, and I’m excited to share how the painted cabinet colors turned out. After several sneak peeks, I can now show more photos of the gray lower cabinets and give you a preview of the room.
UPDATE: The whole kitchen has now been revealed in the full kitchen remodel post.

The complete kitchen reveal is still coming — I’m finishing up the kitchen island makeover, which is the last piece before sharing the rest of the space. While I work on that, here’s a good look at the painted cabinet colors and the progress so far.
Update: See the full kitchen reveal in the reveal post.
If you want to know where this all began and why we made certain choices, you can read the first kitchen remodel post for background. I’ll share details about how the remodel improved both the kitchen and family room in the final reveal, but already it has made a big difference in how the space feels. We removed some upper cabinets and added others to the right of the sink — more on that in a later post.
Why do these projects take so long? Renovations often move slowly, but for now this gives you a solid peek at the kitchen and plenty to look forward to.

For our inspiration, we referred to an original mood board and chose darker charcoal for the lower cabinets (Kendall Charcoal by Benjamin Moore, satin finish) paired with a soft white for the upper cabinets (Dove White by Benjamin Moore). That combination surprised some who know my love for all-white kitchens, but the darker lower cabinets were intentional and I’m so pleased with the result. The white remains prominent as the upper cabinetry while the charcoal anchors the space.

Much of the kitchen was already light and bright — the remaining upper cabinets, plank walls, white subway tile, farmhouse sink, window trim and white quartz counters contribute to that. Adding a dark gray on the lower cabinets provides contrast and makes the white elements pop. The charcoal tone is a versatile neutral that works well with many accent colors.
The darker lower cabinets also highlight our Mohawk natural hickory floors and let the wood add warmth and character to the space. For hardware we chose a slightly modern brushed nickel bin pull and added patterned gold and mercury glass knobs to introduce a warm metal mix and personality — details we love.

We also installed new sconces that combine antique brass, metal and mirrored elements. Paired with Edison bulbs, they give the room a soft, inviting glow that enhances the overall atmosphere.
The blend of modern, vintage, traditional and rustic elements gives the kitchen a layered, interesting look. That mix reflects how we live here and what we enjoy, and it ties the room together visually and functionally. You’ll see more of these elements in the full kitchen reveal.

This upper cabinet has changed a lot since the project began. Filling in the awkward space above the cabinets and painting everything made a big difference; it’s satisfying to see how the details come together when painted and styled.

Originally I removed a few doors just to introduce a little character, but now the full vision is coming together. That personality shows both in this corner and throughout the rest of the kitchen.
I can’t wait to show you more; this has been so exciting. The kitchen remodel is finished and the full reveal is available.
I love waking up every day and getting my coffee in this kitchen.
Feeling blessed, for sure.
