Welcome, welcome!
Come on in! I’m thrilled to be joining this Farmhouse Holiday Fall Dining Room tour as a guest. The timing was perfect to inspire my own dining room for fall. I’m deep into my annual fall nesting right now (you can find my fall nesting series on my site).
Make yourself at home — there’s plenty of room to gather. Our space is cozy and a bit small, but that only makes it feel more intimate and welcoming.

I tend to favor simple seasonal decorating. That doesn’t mean I don’t love an elaborate tablescape — I do — but simpler changes fit my style and lifestyle best. Simplicity allows me to change things often as I’m inspired throughout the season, and that process of tweaking and evolving each room brings me a lot of joy.

If you follow along here, you know I began my fall transition in the kitchen with a new rug. Since our kitchen and dining room are small and connected, it felt natural to carry the fall vibe through both spaces so they read as one cohesive area.

This is our first fall in the remodeled kitchen, so I was excited to add seasonal touches. You’ll notice how the archway visually links the kitchen and dining room, making the transition smooth and inviting.

For the dining room, I started with something easy: a tablecloth from HomeGoods. Small updates like this immediately add a cozy layer and set the tone for the season.

A few weeks ago I found a woven pumpkin at HomeGoods and brought it home. Since real pumpkins were scarce nearby at the time, this woven version was a perfect, long-lasting solution. It won’t rot, and it adds a thrift-friendly touch that I can enjoy all season.

Besides the pumpkin and the tablecloth, I set the table using items I already owned. When I’m decorating with things from around the house, I often give myself ten minutes to arrange a display — it forces quick decisions, mixes pieces creatively, and usually leaves me satisfied with the result.

I paired the same blue-and-white dishes I used in spring with new plum napkins for a fall twist. Wood chargers warmed the setting and complemented the woven pumpkin nicely. Using existing favorites and swapping one or two seasonal elements is an easy way to refresh a table.

When I added hammered gold flatware it needed a bit more cohesion, so I placed a small brass tray under the pumpkin. That simple change elevated the centerpiece and tied the metallic accents together.

To add warmth around the room, I placed brass lanterns on the buffet. Their glow makes the room feel inviting and layered, especially for evening gatherings.

I added a few potted perennials in a basket for a touch of seasonal color. (I still need to plant them outside, but they work well for now indoors.)

Cozy textures are key in autumn decorating: fuzzy sweater pillows on the banquette, velvet pillows, and a knit throw on a chair add comfortable layers and visual interest. Textural layering is my favorite way to make a room feel like fall.

If you look closely…

We have a photo bomber.
He adds an extra cozy layer, so we decided to keep him in the pictures.

Keeping gatherings simple is a theme I love — and I have a new book titled Simple Gatherings releasing October 3rd. Preorders include special freebies; check the book details on my site.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope this small, cozy dining room inspires you to add a few simple touches for fall. Enjoy the rest of the tour and the ideas from the other participants listed below.
