Who knew that a small bunny candle in a lantern by the front door could bring so much happiness? It’s the little touches that make a home feel welcoming, and this simple addition has been a delightful surprise.
I ordered our lantern sconce earlier in the winter but only recently hung it. It’s lightweight, pre-drilled on the back, and easy to mount—if we can install it without being experienced DIYers, anyone can. We used a regular drill and a masonry bit to secure it to the brick. Quick and fuss-free.
Because our porch is small and we didn’t want to run electrical wiring to the entry, a wall-hung, non-electric lantern was the perfect solution. It makes a strong visual statement and offers plenty of room for seasonal décor, without taking up precious floor space.

Once mounted, I placed a small bunny candle holder I’ve had for years inside the lantern along with a battery-operated taper candle and a mix of faux and real greenery for spring. The result is charming and inviting—just what I wanted for our little porch.
The lantern’s generous size gives you space to try lots of different looks. I love how versatile it is—fillable lanterns and glass lamps are some of my favorite ways to add seasonal interest, and this wall piece works the same way.

I plan to change the display through the year—spring greenery, summer blooms, autumn accents, and cozy winter touches. A battery-operated candle keeps things safe and maintenance-free while still providing a warm glow.
Ideas and inspiration for styling a non-electric lantern:

- Copper or warm string lights for a soft glow
- Battery-operated pillar or taper candles for a classic look
- Mini pumpkins or gourds for autumn displays
- Fresh or faux bouquets for spring and summer
- Pinecones and natural elements for rustic charm
- Small potted plants or succulents
- Seashells and sand for a coastal vibe
- Moss, greenery, and seasonal foliage
- Ornaments or small decorative items for holiday themes
There are endless styling possibilities—this lantern gives a compact way to add seasonal personality to your entry. I’ll be swapping things out often and sharing fresh looks as they come together.

You can hang a lantern by its top handle on a hook if you prefer that look. It’s a handy option when mounting space or placement needs to be flexible.

I can’t wait to fall-nestify mine with warm tones, layered textures, and natural accents. Two lanterns paired together make a beautiful statement if you have the space for them.

I’ll update this post with new photos when I switch up the display, and I hope to share a nighttime shot soon—there’s something so welcoming about that soft candlelight by the door.
