Hey friends! Welcome—come on in. I’m sharing what I’ve been doing with our holiday decorating so far, even though I haven’t finished everything yet. This year I’ve kept things simple, and I still need to wrap up the trees and the entry. Real life gets in the way sometimes, but I’m glad you stopped by and I’ll show you what’s ready.
I replaced the green shutter above the fireplace with a mirror to warm up the room for winter. I love a cozy home, and adding the brown tones from a mirror I already had helped make the mantel feel more inviting.

Remember when my garland fell down? Instead of rehanging it, I used a simple snowflake garland—and I love the fresh look it gives the mantel.

The mercury glass pieces catch the light beautifully—the silvery shimmer adds a soft, festive glow.

When our power went out during the Thanksgiving snowstorm, we turned our chairs to face the fireplace and snuggled up close. It was so cozy that I left them that way for a while. We’ll do it again on the next cold night.

I refreshed a wreath I’d been using on the fireplace by dusting it with faux snow and layering a second wreath with white berries on top—same wreath, new look.

I was missing a touch of red this season, so when my new DaySpring pillow arrived it brought the perfect pop of color to the room.

Photos at night don’t do the glow justice, but the small trees and lights scattered around the house replace lamps and create that warm holiday ambiance I love.

Faux-fur blankets are perfect for cold nights by the fire. I found this cozy one at Pier One and it’s become a favorite.

Family movie nights are lined up on the sofa with popcorn and Buddy the Elf—holiday classics make everything feel festive.

There’s always time for a silly foot fight after the movie—those little moments are what make the season fun.
In the dining room I added a small sprig of greenery to the pitcher on the armoire. If you look closely at the crown molding you can still see a corner where painting is unfinished—such is life when you’re balancing projects and decorating.

I’m loving the new dining room color—Behr All in One Studio Taupe. It replaced a pinker tone I called “swine” and it feels so much calmer. I’ll share a full dining room post when I get the chance.

I hoped to finish all our little themed trees by now, but so far only one is decorated. If you missed the Humble Silver Spoon Tree, that’s the one I finished first. I plan to work on the rest this week and add more small trees throughout the house.

I created a small vignette using a mercury glass candlestick topped with a mirror and a cloche—just a few ornaments under the cloche and it feels festive and polished.

I painted over an old oil painting to make a chalkboard and wrote holiday words in a subway-style layout with a white chalk pen. Those pens are so handy for quick seasonal messages.
Our living room wouldn’t be complete without drums—they’re part of our everyday life. I like that even practical items can look festive when they’re sparkly for the holidays.

I made a felt wreath for a bedroom door and I love how it turned out—simple to make and full of charm. I’ll share the tutorial again for anyone who wants to try one.

Small bits and pieces around the house—grouped thoughtfully—bring the holiday spirit without feeling cluttered.

In the kitchen I made a jingle bell mason jar for a cheerful, simple centerpiece.

I was baking gingerbread men for a church party when our older pup snagged a cookie off the baking sheet. He’s almost 16 and mischievous—how can you stay mad at a face like that?

Winston sends his love and wishes you a very Merry Christmas. I’ll share more decorating as I finish projects, plus tips for preparing your home for holiday guests coming up soon.
Happy Christmas house touring this week!
