Creative Ways to Wrap a Gift
This year my girls came up with several inventive ways to wrap presents using items we already had at home. They repurposed everything from Trader Joe’s paper bags to hair clips, and I wanted to share a few of their favorite ideas.
Although the holidays have passed, these techniques can inspire gift wrapping for birthdays, weddings, or any special occasion throughout the year.
We’ve been lingering in that cozy post-holiday mode—staying in our pajamas, eating too much, watching movies, and gathering by the fire. The kids have all been home, which has made it a lovely, slow week filled with family time. Between the relaxed days and a few small projects, it’s been an enjoyable break.
Yesterday we stayed in pajamas again and began a new room makeover project. I’ll share more on that soon, along with a recap of my home projects from the past year. I have photos and updates to post, including a finished bathroom, tweaks to the entryway, a new mantel and lighting, and progress on repainting. For now, though, I’m content to keep enjoying this restful time with family.
In the meantime, here are some creative gift-wrapping ideas to try—plus a reminder to savor the last week of any holiday break you might be enjoying.

Scrapbook paper used for wrapping, Trader Joe’s paper bags cut into “ribbon,” and jute twine for a rustic finish.

All tags shown were handmade; the bird tags were stamped with rubber stamps.

The monogram tag is a simple sticker applied to a plain tag for instant personalization.

A hand-drawn stag silhouette makes a striking, minimalist tag.

A decorative flower hair clip works beautifully as a reusable bow.

Printable hand-drawn Woodland Animal Gift Tags are a charming option if you want ready-to-print designs for quick, handmade-looking tags.

Peace-themed tags make thoughtful accents for holiday gifts or any present that could use a calm, elegant touch.
Simple materials, a touch of creativity, and a few handmade details can turn ordinary wrapping into something memorable. Try mixing textured papers, recycled materials, and small embellishments you already own—buttons, clips, twine, or stamped tags—to create personalized packages that feel special without a lot of expense or effort.
