Inspiring Finds and a Big Surprise Revealed!

I just finished looking through every AFTER photo from the Procrastinator Party. Wow — that was fun! I hope I didn’t miss anyone. It felt like a neighborhood check-in, seeing all the projects and accomplishments while I was busy painting my own cabinet. I love that sense of community in blog land.

One participant even started a blog called Welcome Home as her procrastinator project. I love that. If you have a moment, stop by to congratulate her on ending procrastination and launching her blog.

If you doubt what can be accomplished in a week, take a look at this dramatic before-and-after from Leaving Footprints — photos taken just seven days apart.

From unfinished to finished — fantastic job!

You ALL did a great job, Procrastinators! Next party: January!

Ok, now…for the big SURPRISE!

I’ve been keeping a little secret: about 30 days ago we received THREE offers on our house in Portland. After a long summer of silence, I’m happy to report that as of yesterday the house is SOLD.

We didn’t get everything we hoped for financially, but we didn’t lose our shirts either, and for that we are grateful. I’m relieved it sold before the holidays. While it’s bittersweet to hand the house — and my beloved kitchen — to someone else, I’m excited about our new life here in Washington and confident it will be okay.

As of Monday, if all goes as planned, we’ll own the house we live in and can close this chapter of life. You know I’ll be breaking out the paint can as soon as the deed is recorded.

Thank you for all the prayers, support, comments, and encouragement over these long months. It was a year of unknowns, stress, and hard work, and I could sure use a week of rest — or a month in Hawaii — to recover. Still, I’m thankful to be on the other side and ready to move forward.

Get ready for many more projects and before-and-afters around The Inspired Room — all on a budget of, well, basically zero. That should be interesting. I’ll be scouring blogland for inspiration, for sure.

It IS a beautiful Friday…let’s share what made this week beautiful!

PS. Enjoy the Procrastinator Party AFTER photos and check out my Tumblr from time to time — I add links and inspiration there occasionally.
