When I imagined a cozy, memorable Christmas kitchen for my new little grandbabies, I pictured a whimsical gingerbread house as the centerpiece.

Over the years we’ve made gingerbread houses together as a family, and those days are always full of laughter and sticky fingers. They rarely look perfect, but the memories are what matter most.

That said, I’m completely smitten with this charming ceramic lighted gingerbread house. We’ll keep making our DIY versions for the fun of it, but this little lighted piece will have a permanent spot on the kitchen counter every December.

Though our two grandchildren, Forrest and Lila, are not yet a year old, I’m eager to start new Christmas traditions with them. I can already picture family photo moments in Grammy’s kitchen with the glowing gingerbread house in the background.
Every year we’ll set it out, make hot chocolate, bake cookies, and settle in for cozy gatherings. The traditions we build now are the ones they’ll carry forward, even if their earliest memories are fuzzy.

I love the festive Rifle Paper Nutcracker plates, matching mugs, serving tray and mistletoe napkins for a cheerful table setting. Like my daughters and I once did with our mothers, perhaps we’ll dress up and attend the Nutcracker, then come home for warm drinks and tuck the little ones into bed with visions of sugar-plums dancing in their heads.
Happy Christmas memory making!
