Live Boldly: Surround Yourself with Timeless Beauty

I have shared this beautiful kitchen before — it belongs to my friend Heather Bullard. I’m showing it again because its layout mirrors mine closely. The big difference: hers is finished and charming; mine is still a work in progress.

The similarities end at the floor plan. Mine remains a typical builder-style kitchen, while Heather’s reflects her personality and thoughtful design. Still, the layout gives me hope. My stove and microwave sit in the same spots, and I’m planning to add glass-front cabinets and display my dishes as she has.

Yes, even though they sit near the stove. Tsk tsk — I live on the edge.

I’ll admit I’m willing to risk a little cooking grime if it means I can enjoy the beauty of my dishes every day. Seeing pretty things around the home lifts my spirits.

Isn’t that part of living a beautiful life? Surrounding yourself with things that bring you joy, even if life’s daily routines occasionally put them at risk.

What are you waiting for? Live a little. I dare you.

It’s another Beautiful Life Friday!

If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you know I’ve turned many pages over the last two years — some chapters have been exciting, others exhausting. We lost a job and endured a long season without income before my husband found work again. We moved to a new state, our house sale fell through, and we started a new church in a place where we scarcely knew anyone. Just last week we sold our other house.

Now, at last, this chapter feels like it’s closing.

This week we closed on the house we’re living in — happy dance!

It officially belongs to us (well, to us and the bank together, if we’re being honest). This long saga feels finished.

And yet I suspect the real adventure is only beginning.

I’m grateful you’re along for the journey. Your kind comments and encouragement have been the best therapy.

Where did you find beauty this week?

It’s Beautiful Life Friday — a time to pause and notice the beauty around us. Often it’s right in front of us if we make the effort to look.
