Decorating with Color and Pattern: Tour Sarah’s House

I’m in love.

For the past few weeks I’ve been oohing and ahhing over Sarah’s House on HGTV. I’ve been sharing thoughts with others on The Inspired Room Facebook page and it’s clear a lot of people enjoy the show as much as I do. If you haven’t seen it yet, find a few reruns—Sarah’s work is a joy to watch.

Even if her look isn’t exactly your usual style, the show stretches your eye for color, pattern, and traditional details in fresh ways.

I’ve only caught a few episodes so far, but what I’ve seen has won me over. Her aesthetic feels fresh and fun, and it stands out from the more predictable rooms you see everywhere.

Design can get repetitive, and I often find myself growing bored with trends that all start to look the same. Sarah’s rooms, however, consistently surprise me.

I browsed through her portfolio from past seasons and was equally smitten. Her color choices, layered patterns, and the way she mixes furniture feel personal and distinct—reminders of why a unique home matters.

I’m especially drawn to color and pattern—maybe it’s the Northwest weather, but I crave liveliness and warmth in my home. Sarah’s approach brings that energy while still feeling curated and authentic.

I’m excited to dig into every episode from past seasons. I recently discovered Sarah’s Summer House as well, which is a delightful bonus.

Oh how I heart Sarah.
