Before I get into Fall Nesting and doormats, a quick note: if you missed recent posts during an email newsletter glitch — including a sponsored post and a few reader questions — don’t worry, you didn’t miss much and I’m not MIA. I’ve shared posts about safe household products and a reader poll asking “What Would You Do?” and I’d love your input when you have a moment.
Now on to one of my favorite topics: FALL. Whether it feels early or just right where you are, autumn is on its way and it’s a magical season for home-making. Even while I’m savoring a sunny Northwest summer, my heart starts leaning toward cozy layers and the rhythms of fall.
I believe the changing seasons invite us to slow down and adapt gently—both outdoors and inside our homes. There’s no rush; instead I like to savor each transition and bring intention to how my space evolves.

Fall Nesting is an annual series I look forward to and that readers enjoy year after year. We’ve been sharing ideas together for over a decade, exploring how to make our homes feel warmer, more welcoming, and thoughtfully prepared for the season.
This series covers everything cozy: preparing your home for cooler days, designing with the senses in mind, embracing creature comforts, taking cues from nature to update your décor, celebrating seasonal favorites and traditions, and finding simple, fresh ways to fall in love with your home again.

A little behind-the-scenes tidbit: I’m working on a new photo and coffee table book that celebrates the seasons and our love for them. I’m excited to share more as it comes together—especially for readers who love seasonal inspiration as much as I do.
I’ll announce this year’s Fall Nesting theme and the series format next week. First, though, I always recommend starting with the front porch. It’s an easy, impactful place to welcome the season—simple touches at the entry set the tone for the whole home. If you need inspiration, watch the short video we made on creating a welcoming porch.
If you know you’ll want a new fall doormat when the season starts, consider grabbing one now before popular designs sell out. Below are a few of my favorites to get you started.
