We’re still embracing life at home and making the most of it. While I miss the ease of going out and advancing some plans, the recent sunny weather in Seattle inspired us to spend a weekend preparing the deck and side patio for spring and summer. It felt wonderful to be outside enjoying the sunshine and getting those outdoor spaces ready.
Tomorrow I’ll share the progress on our outdoor areas. If you follow me on Instagram you might have caught a sneak peek, but I’ll post more details and photos here soon.
By the way, the Inspired Stripe Rug I’m using is currently 40% off. It’s one of the rugs I designed for Dash & Albert—something you all helped bring into production. I love the runner in the kitchen for spring and summer.

Although we’ve been spending a lot of time outdoors, I’ve also been thinking about ways to make the interior more comforting. Being home constantly has amplified my desire to love the space I live in and to make small, meaningful changes that help me feel more at ease.

Three simple ways to feel more at home while staying in
Rearrange what you have for a fresh look.
Spending more time at home has made me eager to rearrange furniture. Moving pieces you already own is free and delivers nearly instant satisfaction. I recently brought a new piece into the dining room and once I hang a few things I’ll share the before-and-after.

Dream and plan future projects.
Spring always invites a refresh, and even if you can’t complete big projects right now, dreaming about future improvements lifts your spirits. I like to browse ideas for remodels and updates—planning gives me hope and focus. We’ve already done major projects like our kitchen, side yard and deck, and those changes helped shape the direction of this house. With those foundations in place, I have plenty of new ideas to explore when the time is right.
We had another project scheduled to begin before everything changed, but it’s on hold for now. I’ll share details when we can move forward again.

Envision, design and plant gardens.
Spending more time in the yard has sparked ideas for additional garden areas. I’m dreaming of a cutting garden that will bloom in spring so we don’t have to rely on store-bought flowers. Right now I’m gathering inspiration and sketching ideas to develop a garden plan for the next phases of our yard.
I love making small bouquets from what’s blooming in our yard—the camellias in my pitcher came right from our backyard. Little touches like fresh flowers and plants brighten the house and lift the mood. I even picked up a playful plant-themed dish towel recently; small, cheerful details like that make a home feel more personal.

Come back tomorrow to see the updated side patio and back deck—I’m loving how it turned out!
