Many of us set personal goals at the start of a new year, but do you also set goals for your home? I do. Each year I consider how our home can better support our family’s life. I think about what matters most to us, how to prioritize projects and budgets, and how to protect and improve our home as both a structure and a source of well-being.
To make that process simpler, I share a Home Goals worksheet to help you clarify priorities and plan realistically. A short, focused goals sheet can cut through that endless project list and help you choose what matters most this year. It’s useful kept in a notebook or planner so you can check progress and stay focused on the goals you set.

Before committing to specific tasks, I recommend defining the main purposes for your home. Consider what you want your home to help you accomplish this year: a place of rest, a safe and nurturing environment for family, a gathering space for friends, a spot to pursue hobbies or run a small business, or simply a sanctuary from daily stress. Clarifying those intentions makes it much easier to set meaningful, actionable goals.
Keeping your home purpose front and center helps you stay grounded and content in the space you have. I explore this idea further in my book, Love the Home You Have.
