Practicing Self-Compassion at Home — Guest Post for Ann Voskamp

Love the Home You Have - The Inspired Room blog

Our home should reflect who we are and what we love.

That’s wonderful—when we like what we see.

But what if the reflection surprises us? What if it reveals clutter or habits we’d rather not admit to?

That can be uncomfortable, but it’s also an invitation to change.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . .

You can read my thoughts on how our homes reveal who we are in a guest post I wrote for my friend Ann Voskamp’s blog.

Ann and I met years ago at a conference—the first time she had spoken publicly after the release of her book A Thousand Gifts. She was nervous, and I was a little starstruck, but she immediately put me at ease.

Ann has a way of looking people in the eye that makes them feel seen and valued, even when they are meeting for the first time. We connected over our shared introverted tendencies and quickly became friends. Her encouragement was invaluable while I wrote my book; I honestly doubt the book would exist without her support. I’m grateful for the chance to share a story from my book on her site.

You can find the post on Ann’s blog.

PS: Notice the lovely glimpses of Ann’s farmhouse kitchen in the photos she shared with the post—such warm, inviting details that illustrate how a home can communicate grace instead of perfectionism.
