Domino – Erin Fetherston
It’s hard to think of anything cozier on a crisp autumn day than curling up beside a fireplace. Even if it’s not cold enough yet to light a fire, you can begin arranging your living room around the fireplace now so it will be ready when the weather turns. Creating a warm, inviting corner around the hearth is a simple way to bring comfort and style into your home.
Seven easy steps to create a cozy fall fireplace focal point
1. Move comfortable chairs a bit closer to the fireplace to form an intimate seating area and make the hearth the room’s focal point.
2. Add a soft rug to define the space and introduce texture—keeping it far enough from open flames to remain safe.
3. Place a basket of books and a small footstool near the chairs so you can relax and put your feet up.
4. Keep your fireplace tools within reach. Having a neat set of tools makes tending a fire easier and maintains a tidy look.
5. If you don’t plan to burn wood, style the fireplace with decorative logs or candles to create the illusion of warmth and a cozy atmosphere.
6. A log carrier adds both practicality and character. A leather or woven carrier beside the hearth is as decorative as it is useful.
7. Dress your mantel for the season with branches, pumpkins, candles, framed photos, or other items that inspire you. Seasonal touches make the fireplace feel intentional and festive.
Is your fireplace ready to be this season’s gathering spot?
