Spring Indoor Planters: Stylish Pots for Thriving Houseplants

In a recent post I shared a spring planter I’m using in my kitchen and several readers asked for similar planters at different price points. I looked for options and rounded up a selection below — they were a bit harder to find than I expected, but more may appear in the coming weeks and I’ll share any additions I find.

Baskets and multi-section planters are a charming way to group spring flowers or small potted plants. They work well for seasonal displays and can also look lovely year-round. Some of the items below are true planters, while others are decorative baskets that are perfect for holding potted plants. I often place pots inside a basket and remove them to water, which is what I do with the basket on my counter.

Stoneware pieces are another sweet option — I own one of the hobnail styles and love how it looks. If a basket is shallower than your pots, it can still work if the pots themselves are attractive, or you can tuck moss around them for a finished look.

The trick to a full, lush look like my planter is using plants with thick or dense foliage so the pots aren’t visible. I have four small plants in mine and set them on saucers in case they drip when watered.

One budget-friendly option is FLODBJÖRK from Ikea, currently priced at $19.99. It’s made of plastic rattan for durability and is handwoven, so each box has unique character.

Rattan Planter Trough

Another rattan planter trough is expected to be restocked on May 18, 2025. Keep an eye out for availability; I’ll share updates on social channels and in my newsletter if it comes back in stock.

If you like the style of my specific planter basket, there’s a round version from the same brand that’s slightly smaller and more affordable. It’s a good match if you want the same woven look but need a more compact size.

I also received a hobnail planter as a gift and it sits perfectly in a small window by our front door. Little touches like that brighten my day every time I pass by — they’re simple but make a space feel welcoming.
