Hi friends! I’m Michaela, back to share a simple, charming DIY you can make in February for Valentine’s Day. I love flowers, so I’m always looking for ways to arrange them — today’s project is a heart-shaped floral arrangement that’s easy, budget-friendly, and perfect for a gift, a centerpiece, or a craft night with friends. Plan to assemble it a few days before Valentine’s Day so the blooms stay fresh.

You’ll need:

– Flowers: I used carnations and spray roses. Carnations open up nicely and can resemble baby peonies when you choose the right variety and color.
– A heart-shaped kraft box (I found mine at Hobby Lobby for an affordable price).
– Floral foam (it can be slightly smaller than your box).
– Scissors and a knife.
– Aluminum foil.
– A bowl of water with floral food.

Step 1: Line the inside of the kraft heart box with foil to protect it from water and keep the box dry.

Step 2: Trim the floral foam to fit the heart box. To get a precise shape, press the foam into the lid, flip it over, and cut away excess with a knife until it fits snugly.

Step 3: Soak the floral foam in a bowl of water mixed with plant food. Let it absorb the water for about 10 minutes so it’s fully saturated.

Step 4: The fun part — arrange the flowers. Trim stems to about an inch or slightly longer, and insert them into the floral foam. Start with larger blooms to define the shape, then fill in with smaller flowers.

Carnations are sturdy and easy to place, while spray roses have thinner stems and require a gentler hand — hold the stem at its base as you push it into the foam. To make carnations look more peony-like, carefully peel back a few outer petals and choose varieties with tightly scrunched centers.

Use smaller filler flowers to cover any gaps and create a lush, even surface. When finished, display the heart arrangement on a coffee table, propped on a shelf, or tied with ribbon to hang on a door.
