I have been craving sunshine—today even felt like summer, which made me so happy. With brighter days ahead, I refreshed the dining room for a spring or Easter brunch. I love how swapping a few accessories can change the mood of a room. Mixing pieces you already own with a few new accents is an easy way to make a space feel fresh again.
I’ve mentioned my little succulent gardens for the kitchen before; they bring a natural touch of green to the table and are a nice twist on a traditional bouquet. Bringing in plants keeps the look relaxed and fresh.
Recently my friend Saul from DaySpring sent a few new plates that inspired this spring brunch. I adore brunches—especially when paired with sunny weather and pretty dishes. These cheerful plates, along with a small pitcher, chalkboard signs, and a four-part server, come from the Daily Grace collection. Their whimsical designs add a lighthearted vibe that feels perfect for spring after a long, serious winter.
Last fall I painted the dining room Dove White (a Benjamin Moore formula mixed by Glidden) as a step toward the white paneled walls I envision. It’s been a welcome change that nudges the room closer to the cheery, casual dining space I’d imagined.
Our house is relaxed and full of activity—pets and family life mean the dining room needs to be practical as well as pretty. Because it houses our only table, the room serves as both an everyday hangout and the place for meals and entertaining. Weekends often bring family together, so a casual spring brunch is a natural fit.
