Ch-ch-ch changes! Tis’ the season for rearranging. I’ve been on my usual pre-Thanksgiving mission to maximize coziness and get the house ready for gatherings.
If you’ve followed The Inspired Room for a while, you know how I get this time of year — nothing stays in the same place for long.
Today I’m excited to introduce our new linen slipcovered sofa from Sixpenny.

Now that our son Luke is officially a college student and living on campus, we’re thinking about how to shape a home that serves us well in this next season. An almost-empty nest brings a few changes, but also an opportunity to evolve our rooms in fresh, comfortable ways.

There will be transitions around the house for a while, but it’s all for good reason: we want to use our space well and make every room inviting and functional.
We’ll share our plans and changes as they develop — it’s going to be fun.

Our new Sixpenny slipcovered sofa already feels like it belongs. It’s a lovely addition to how we live in our living room and creates a cozy conversation area where we can gather.
On their site, Sixpenny describes their slipcovered pieces as life-friendly, battle-tested, and easy to swap. That fits our home perfectly — with dogs, guests, and regular life, we need furniture that can keep up.
This sofa is even cozier than we imagined. It’s the Neva Sofa (84″) in Medium Weight Linen Jasmine Rice with Feather Down Fill.

The color is a soothing linen-gray neutral that works wonderfully on its own or paired with seasonal colors, patterns, and textures. The feather down-filled cushions are plush and inviting, making the sofa perfect for lounging.

Placed under the windowsill, the sofa creates an inspiring spot for reading, relaxing, and enjoying the view. It anchors a comfortable conversation area and feels like a natural fit in the room.
We had considered placing the sofa on the opposite side of the room and may still try different arrangements, but once it was here we loved it. For now, it’s at home where it is.

The Neva is also the right size to serve as an extra sleeping spot for guests when needed — handy since I’ll have overnight visitors for Thanksgiving and can use every bed I can find.

For those worrying about the dogs: they were consulted and approve. They’ve adjusted to the new arrangement and remain very fond of their spots. The daybed is still available if they want to revert to the old routine.

I’ve also been looking at other pieces from Sixpenny — they offer a range of well-made furniture that fits casual, livable interiors.
We’re so looking forward to enjoying our living room and cozy conversation area with family and friends next week.
