100 Short One-Syllable Baby Girl Names for Modern Parents

I’m back with more baby name inspiration because I can’t get enough of them. One-syllable girl names have been climbing in popularity recently, offering a fresh alternative to the long, frequently used names like Olivia, Charlotte, and Isabella. In the latest SSA Top 50, only one single-syllable name appears (Grace at #40), so a one-syllable choice can feel distinctive while still fitting classic, modern, sweet, or strong styles. They’re also ideal middle names.

One-syllable names offer practical benefits too. They can balance a longer surname—naming experts often recommend an uneven syllable count across first, middle, and last names (for example, 1-3-2) to create a pleasing rhythm. Short names are also generally easier to spell and pronounce, which helps toddlers learning their names and busy baristas taking orders.
