When Erin emailed us from Spain to share her brilliant DIY art project, we were thrilled to pass it along. Her idea is so creative it even made us hungry. Here’s the letter she sent:
I discovered your site through a link on another blog and it instantly became one of my favorites. I’ve been inspired by the thrifty makeovers featured there and wanted to share one of my own. My husband and I live temporarily in an apartment in Spain owned by our employer, so we aren’t allowed to paint the mint green walls. After getting tired of blank walls, I gave in to the crafty bug and made some artwork for our bedroom. My mom brought Mod Podge when she visited, so I tried decoupage for the first time using laser prints I created in Photoshop and a large pizza box. I had saved a clean pizza box for months, convinced it could become something creative. The Browning poem I used was on our wedding invitations, so it has personal meaning for us. I’m really proud of how it turned out and wanted to share. Thanks for all the inspiration! – Erin

And the finished piece:

It’s wonderful to see wall art that’s both personal and pizza-inspired. Simple materials, thoughtful text, and a little Mod Podge transformed a plain apartment wall into something meaningful and stylish.
