Spring Decluttering and Weekend Home Styling Tips

My daughters and I spent a bright spring afternoon tidying the house. The sun came out and suddenly we were inspired to sort and simplify. When Courtney moved into our lower level a few weeks ago, the change forced us to shuffle rooms and belongings. Instead of letting clutter take over, we used this transition as a chance to pare down, organize, and make space feel calmer.

I’ve been emptying closets and drawers throughout the house, using the dining room as a temporary holding area while I decided where things should go. It was helpful, but all those random items piled on the table began to bother me. On Friday we finally cleared and tackled the dining table, and it felt so good to restore order.

I posted a timelapse of our dining room clean-up on Instagram (it’s saved in my highlights if you follow me). I’ll upload the clip to YouTube soon so anyone who isn’t logged into Instagram can see it — cleaning videos seem oddly satisfying to watch, and maybe seeing ours will motivate a little spring tidying at your place too.

PS — Part three of my series on self-care will be published next week.
