Reading the Christmas story and arranging a nativity scene have always been meaningful parts of our family’s holiday traditions since our children were small. When they were toddlers, my husband even crafted a cardboard nativity so they could play with it — and they adored it.
This year I passed our family nativity on to our daughter Courtney and her husband so they can continue this cherished tradition together. Even though we’re empty nesters now, giving them the nativity doesn’t mean the tradition ends for us — it simply evolves.

A follower on Instagram spotted a charming blue-and-white nativity set and sent me the link. I instantly fell for it and felt it belonged in our new home. The little camel and lambs are absolutely delightful — I can never resist cute animals.
This Christmas we’re honoring the season’s meaning and our family ritual by displaying this elegant new nativity scene in the main room of the house. It feels like a fresh way to celebrate the same story and memories that have been important to us for years.
Do you set up a nativity scene at Christmas? What traditions are most meaningful to you? I’d love to hear — send me a message on Instagram!
