It’s Pick Your Prize Weekend here at The Inspired Room. The past few weeks have been difficult, and I’m finally finding my footing again. As some of you know, my daughter had emergency surgery last week. She’s doing much better now, and I want to thank everyone for the kind comments, messages, and concern.
On the day of her appendectomy I felt like I was moving through a fog. I followed the ambulance to the hospital, watched them wheel her inside, and then sat in the waiting room while the medical team prepared her for surgery. I was scared and exhausted, pacing the corridor and feeling very alone—my husband was back home taking care of our son and our dogs.
As I walked past the hospital gift shop, I glanced at the display window and did a double take. My friend Dee’s artwork from Red Letter Words, part of the Urban Soul line that DaySpring carries, was right there in the window. Seeing those words felt like a small sign meant just for me. In that instant I felt reassured—less alone and more hopeful that everything would be okay.
That piece of art wasn’t just decorative; it carried a hopeful message that lifted my spirits. Having inspirational words and meaningful art around the home can do the same for us—helping to refocus our thoughts on gratitude and what truly matters.
