Are you ready to declutter and get organized in 2017?
I haven’t taken down my Christmas decor yet, but I’m eager to start putting things away so I can begin the year with a clean slate. There are a few areas of the home I plan to tackle right away to jump-start the process, and I’ll share some organizing success stories soon. I’m committed to making progress.
When my kitchen is finished (still waiting on a few last details), I will gladly give you a tour. It won’t be long, and I can’t wait to show how I organize a small galley kitchen. Small spaces present unique challenges, but I’m excited for the decluttering and organizing challenge this year.
How about you? Are you serious about getting rid of excess stuff so your home feels more organized this year? Much of the success in decluttering comes from having the right mindset. Decluttering isn’t always fun, but taking baby steps will get you there. You need resolve and motivation to see projects through to completion.
Why do you want to simplify and organize your home? Write down a clear vision of what you want and why it matters. How would being more organized and having less clutter change your daily life? When you visualize the end result and remind yourself why it matters, you’re far more likely to stick with the process. Finding the right mindset has been a game-changer for me, both in my previous house and in this one.
Below are ideas to inspire organizing in nearly every room. Rather than only offering tips, I invite you to study the photos for practical takeaways. When I began blogging, we used to play a little observation game: readers would study images and note ideas they could apply at home. There are always useful details to notice, so let’s observe and learn from these examples.
Which images stand out to you? Is there a specific area of your home you want to declutter and organize this year?
What are your decluttering goals or organizational struggles? Tell me about them in the comments — how could I help with ideas or motivation to reach your goals?
Let’s make 2017 our most decluttered and organized year yet! I’m in. Are you?

Don’t forget to share in the comments. What are some 2017 organizational challenges or goals in your home?

One of my favorite books I’ve written is a guide to decluttering and simplifying called Make Room for What You Love. It offers practical advice and helpful insights for people who tend to hold onto too much. The e-book version is currently affordably priced at many retailers and is full of straightforward strategies to help you decide what to keep and how to make room for what matters.
