After the Christmas Tour: What Comes Next for the Band

After the Christmas Home Tour

Sometimes I have to laugh at myself. I see so many people whose homes still look perfectly decorated — shiny, neat, and ready for guests. They’re hosting parties, leisurely making crafts, baking favorite Christmas cookies, and their gifts are wrapped with cute paper and bows.

That is exactly how it is at my house!

We’re totally ready! We’re sitting by the fire, singing Christmas carols!

Okay.

Truth: this might get a little messy. Feel free to avert your eyes.

I haven’t bought or wrapped nearly as many gifts as I should. I haven’t baked anything. Jack left the tree mostly undecorated.

Our stair garland has gotten crunchy and is shedding evergreen bits all over the railing and floor.

I managed to kill at least one poinsettia.

My slipcovers had to go into the wash again, so the family room is a bit torn apart. It got so messy I’ve kept the blinds shut — just in case a blogger with a zoom lens was driving by.

The dogs have been walking all over the furniture, which is why I seem to be washing white slipcovers constantly.

What was a pretty dining room table, all set for the holidays during my Christmas tour, ended up buried in what felt like a small avalanche of clutter.

I’m about to launch a massive cleaning spree to recapture the holiday spirit.

But other than that, I’m READY! WHOO HOO!

So, how are you doing the week before Christmas? REALLY?

It’s totally fine if you’re leisurely making crafts, hosting parties, and baking gingerbread cookies. Really — I’m not jealous at all. I hope to join you in the festivities next week. We just had a little setback and I’ve got a few things to finish up here first. But there’s still time, right?
