DIY Slipcovers and Creative Home Finds for Stylish Makeovers

It was another inspiring week in blogland. I regularly update ideas on my Inspiring Finds page, and this week I bookmarked several creative projects and sources worth sharing.

Amy from My Pink Life has been a blogging friend for years, and I always enjoy seeing her latest projects. She recently refreshed her kitchen—complete with clever small-space solutions—and you can view her charming kitchen cart and ideas in her post.

White Slipcovers

Nester invited friends over to help make a slipcover, and the results were lovely. If you missed the Pink Polka Dot slipcover tutorial I linked before, it’s worth a look for a simple, approachable method. One of my favorite touches on custom slipcovers is a little flappy pleated skirt trim—those small DETAILS really matter.

Nester mentioned she wished she had straightened the slipcover before photographing it, but that’s real life. Slipcovers rarely look perfect in photos, and that imperfect quality is part of their charm.

Also notable is Tiny Twig’s slipcover makeover—from a basic office chair to a stylish, comfortable seat. It’s a great example of how simple changes can dramatically update a space.

DIY Headboard

I have white slipcovers in my own home and I love them, though they do come with a few considerations. I’ll share a post soon titled “The Truth Uncovered: White Slipcovers” to outline issues you might encounter and help you decide if they’re right for your house.

Another clever project I enjoyed was a DIY headboard made from kitchen cabinet doors. It’s an inventive way to repurpose materials and create a statement piece for a bedroom. Remodelaholic has a full headboard tutorial if you want step-by-step guidance.

map wall

I also love the idea of using maps as a wall covering. Country Living featured a beautiful example, and Happy Turtle shared inspiration that convinced me to keep collecting maps for a future project.

I adore these little zinc tags.

You can write on them with chalk—so cute and practical.

The jute hangers are equally charming. I plan to use these tags on baskets and bins in my pantry to get better organized. They add a simple, rustic touch to storage and make labeling easy.

If you like them, you can find similar zinc tags in my new shop to help with your own pantry or storage organization.
