It’s important to me that our home feels warm, welcoming, and reflective of the people who live here. One way I add personality to our seasonal decor is by including small, unexpected touches. I’ve always loved playful animal accents, so when I found this charming brass fox and brass rabbit, I couldn’t resist bringing them home.
I’ve used rabbits and foxes in many of our past homes, and these felt like a natural fit. They’re delightful for the holidays but also versatile enough to display year-round. I like to change what sits in their little bowls by season — Easter eggs and spring flowers in spring, candles and greenery in winter, seashells in summer, or ornaments at Christmas. They work equally well on a mantel, tucked into a bookshelf, or used as bookends. Versatile decor is the best kind.

This is our current mantel arrangement as of Thanksgiving weekend: a little greenery, candles, a strand of wood beads, a few pinecones, a bell, and a touch of sparkle tucked into the fox and rabbit bowls. It’s a simple setup that continues to evolve. I may add a wreath to the mirror and drape garland across the mantel, or swag the beads for added texture. Even if I don’t add anything more, the current display already feels cozy and festive.

I love allowing decor to evolve slowly with the seasons. It lets you add pieces when inspired and pare back when things feel cluttered. Decorating doesn’t have to be all or nothing — small changes over time create a home that feels authentic and lived-in. When your space changes with you, it remains a place of comfort, peace, and personality.
