Farmhouse Style: Inside the Street of Dreams Tour

Farmhouse Style Home Tour - The Inspired Room Blog

For many years when I lived in Portland I made a point of visiting the Street of Dreams every summer. It was a cherished tradition I loved even as a child. After moving to Washington I hadn’t attended in a while, and I missed it. Last week I finally went again for a quick trip to revive the ritual—and it was worth every minute.

I photographed hundreds of details and favorite spaces. These show homes were often large and luxurious—many around 8,000 square feet—yet I still found numerous ideas that I could use in my own more modest home. The tour offered inspiration in scale, finishes, layouts, and small decorative touches that feel accessible even in smaller houses.

This visit was especially timely since we’re preparing to remodel our kitchen in the coming weeks and are dreaming up additional projects. Touring these homes helped confirm design choices I already love and introduced fresh possibilities to consider for our renovation and future updates.

Over the next few weeks I’ll share more posts highlighting ideas I gathered on the tour. To begin, here is a sampling of photographs from one of my favorite houses on the tour, Mon Coeur. Its Hamptons-inspired, modern farmhouse style resonated with me—closer to the aesthetic I imagine for my own home someday, albeit on a smaller scale—so it felt the most familiar and comfortable.

Enjoy a look at photos from this Hamptons-inspired, modern farmhouse-style home.

Interior design for this home was by Colleen Mihalik of CM&D Design, with interior decorating by Tiffany Edmondson of The Urban Coop. The styling, finishes, and thoughtful details throughout the house illustrate why the modern farmhouse look remains a popular choice: light, layered textures, classic millwork, practical yet beautiful storage, and comfortable, lived-in furnishings.
