To kick off the approaching summer season, we gave our front door and porch a fresh update. This time of year is perfect for improving curb appeal so the exterior will be ready for fall decorating and the holidays.
You may have seen the new door color on my Instagram stories, but here’s a progress photo. The door isn’t quite finished—we still need to paint the trim and complete a few more updates—so this is a work-in-progress shot.
The paint on the door is Benjamin Moore’s “Blue Suede Shoes,” and our brick is painted Sherwin Williams’ “Reserved White.” I left this progress photo mostly unedited so you can see the true tone; it shifts a bit throughout the day. Up close it feels bright and cheerful, while from the street it reads a little more subdued—either way, it’s a lovely choice. You can find more of our home paint colors on the blog.
While the porch isn’t perfect yet, I believe in sharing the small improvements as they happen, not only the final reveal. I’ll post a full before-and-after of the door in the coming weeks, but for now I’m focusing on enjoying the progress.
Do you ever feel like you can’t start until you can finish everything at once? If I let that all-or-nothing thinking take over, nothing would ever get done. Painting the door is just one step toward improved curb appeal, but we already love the color and the mood it creates at our entry. It’s inspiring a lot of new ideas for the rest of the house that I’ll share as we go.
With a new door color in place, I’m looking for fun summer doormats and accessories to pull the porch together. I’ll share a post soon with more porch ideas and favorite accessories, but below are some pretty summer doormat options I found.
