I keep several lanterns around my home and recently switched to flameless candles for safety and convenience. They’re perfect for lighting porches and entryways during the holidays without worrying about wind or unattended flames. In windy weather real candles can go out quickly, and open flames—especially outdoors or in busy rooms—raise obvious safety concerns. Flameless candles solve those problems while still delivering a warm, inviting glow.
Many modern flameless candles look remarkably realistic. Some are so convincing you might do a double take. While I still enjoy the scent and ambiance of a real candle, there are lots of situations where flameless versions are the better choice: covered porches, homes with pets or children, or decorative displays where melted wax would be a hassle.
Flameless candles are also an excellent option for placing within garlands on mantels or stair railings, or anywhere that heat and dripping wax would be a concern. They provide steady light without the risk that comes with traditional candles, and they can often be set on timers or controlled remotely for added ease.
