Do you love autumn walks? I certainly do.
I know many people turn to stores, Pinterest, or blogs for home decor inspiration, but for me nothing beats a simple walk outdoors. Nature is endlessly inspiring — from rich seasonal colors and varied textures to found objects like branches, pine cones, and leaves. Those natural elements spark creativity and make decorating feel fresh and personal.
At the moment, the air just outside my door smells like a Christmas tree farm. That’s one of the best things about living in the Pacific Northwest: abundant, beautiful trees and that wonderful evergreen scent that always feels like a little holiday promise.

On my walks I often come home with little treasures — sticks, branches, pine cones, and colorful leaves — ready to be turned into seasonal decor. These simple natural finds are versatile, budget-friendly, and add an organic touch to almost any space.

Two years ago I found a branch to hang Christmas ornaments from a window — a small, creative touch that made a big impact.

This fall I gathered branches with colorful leaves to arrange in a hurricane vase on the mantel.

But this week I hit the jackpot. On what may have been the most glorious day of the season, I found a treasure trove of branches beneath a stand of trees: birch limbs, moss-covered sticks, and small logs waiting to be used.
Needless to say, I was thrilled.
I may have let out a little squeal and called them my pretties.
I may have collected so many that my husband had to drive back with the car to bring everything home.
I even found one branch taller than my front door — a dramatic piece that will make a striking focal point in seasonal decor.
Now I have big plans for incorporating branches throughout my holiday decorating — from porch displays to mantel arrangements and simple vase groupings.

Branches are a simple, versatile way to bring the outdoors in and create beautiful, cost-effective seasonal decor. Whether you use a single tall branch at the entry, a cluster in a vase on the mantel, or scattered pine cones and leaves as tabletop accents, natural elements add warmth and character to your home.
