Setting a lamp on a kitchen counter is one of my favorite, simple ways to bring warmth and charm to the heart of the home. It’s a small detail, but it adds an unexpected, cozy touch—especially in the evening when the soft light creates a welcoming atmosphere. Although not a common choice, a counter lamp can feel both stylish and homey.

What do you think about lamps on kitchen counters?
They may not replace task lighting from overhead or under-cabinet fixtures, and they do use counter space, but they offer a softer, more intimate light that can transform the room. A well-placed lamp adds personality, texture, and a layered lighting effect that makes a kitchen feel lived-in and comfortable.
I’ve gathered many of my favorite lighting options in my shop for easy browsing.

Have you read my new book? Dwelling explores the way our homes shape our daily lives and offers thoughtful ideas for making rooms feel intentional and welcoming.
