Many people enjoy updating their rooms with the changing seasons. Whether you use slipcovers, swap out pillows and rugs, or add new accessories, seasonal decorating is a simple way to reflect the outdoors and refresh your home’s mood.

Of course, not everyone wants frequent changes, and that’s perfectly fine. Preferring a steady look doesn’t mean you lack style — it often means you’ve found a comfortable, enduring aesthetic that works for you.

Summer rooms with bright, airy colors inspire me to introduce playful hues and beachy touches. In warm months I like citrus accents, wicker elements and fresh flowers for a relaxed, cheerful feel. Although I usually lean toward cozy autumnal decor, I appreciate both looks—crisp fall air and sunny days blend the best of both seasons.

Most of the year I make only small accessory changes. I aim for balance so my rooms transition easily between seasons without major overhauls. That way a few well-chosen pieces can shift the tone from one season to the next.

Style Tip: Identify the season you’re most drawn to as a starting point for your personal decorating style. If you love more than one season, consider updating a few accents each season. Alternatively, choose versatile, season-neutral items that work from fall through summer with minimal adjustments.

So, which season speaks to you?
